Many people confuse tags with keywords and it is no surprise as it can be
Lesson # 1: A tag is NOT a keyword ... A tag is a
categorization system used to organize information within a network (or
Lesson # 2: Do not attempt to stuff keywords into tags or
you'll shoot yourself in the foot. Tags should be no more than 3 words in
length... It is actually better to have 1 word tags as most networks
categorize 95% of their content under 1 word tags.
Let's say that you have a new article you want to promote though Synnd...
That article is about "Labrador Retriever clicker training"
This is also
the key term you would like to "rank for" in the search engines. To rank for
this term be sure to include it in your META title and META description and
also mention the term naturally throughout the body of your content. You may
include this term as a tag on your own blog which can be beneficial but
don't force it on the social networks.
When it comes time to add the
campaign to Synnd you DO NOT want to enter this key term as a tag...
Remember... Keywords are NOT tags and tags ARE NOT keywords.
should I tag this?
You want to include 1 word tags (ideally) that
contain "trigger" terms that would pull up your content if someone were to
"search" for it within the social networks.
my "Labrador Retriever clicker training" article to appear whenever someone
searches for the following terms:
dog, clicker, training, labrador,
Some people may search your term exactly "Labrador
Retriever clicker training"
Most will enter variations of the term like:
lab, labrador training, how to train a labrador with a clicker, etc.
you enter 1 word triggers then your content will come up no matter what they
query. So if you want your content to come up no matter what then enter tags
dog, clicker, training, labrador, retriever, lab, train, dog
training, clicker training, etc.
DO NOT try to stuff your keywords in the
tag field or you will have problems not only with Synnd quality control but
in the networks as well...
They actively watch for people trying to stuff
keywords in tags and they do consider it to be spam. They consider it spam
because tags are a way to categorize content so it can be found easily
within their network. Tags are not a way to gain a boost in the search
engines by stuffing keywords.
Feel free to use keyword driven tags on your
own blog but don't do it in the social networks and don't do it in Synnd.

This article takes a look at the importance of On-site SEO Optimization and how the search engines are changing. It’s no longer just META tags.
Getting to the top of Google, Yahoo and MSN is actually an incredibly difficult process involving a great deal of research, analytics and it can take anything from a few weeks to a few months to get there. Today as more and more companies look to get their site top ranked, more and more websites are neglecting the importance of On-site SEO Optimization.
Onsite SEO Optimization is perhaps the most accessible form of search engine optimization(SEO) and because of this, it’s also the most neglected because most people think that it really is just a piece of cake. The reality is however, that good on-site SEO optimization involves more than just ensuring a sites markup is W3C compliant, it involves everything from creating site-maps to minimizing site load time.
Historically, many search engines were pretty basic in their review of a site. They took a quick scan over content and that was about it. Today however things have changed as search engines begin to parse pages not just for content, but for accessibility, usability and to ensure that the site is actually valuable for users.
To this end, on-site SEO optimization has become vitally important. Ensuring that information is well-presented, well-linked and standards compliant is now a major priority as quite simply, if you can’t take the time to verify the on-site SEO optimization of your website, then the search engines won’t take the time to index your site.
Ensuring that every page is optimized for the search engines is a time consuming and laborious task however the results really do pay for themselves. Many search engines in fact give well-optimized sites extra features in the listings such as video pages, and additional links which do a great deal to catch a person’s eye.
Search engine professionals will tell you that the importance of a well-optimized webpage is the most crucial part of search engine optimization as without it, executing the remaining parts of a SEO campaign is nothing but a waste of budget.
Today there are many on-site SEO optimization companies out there offering a variety of different services. Many of them offer a free site review, which is essentially a quick scan executed by some retail software. If your business is reliant on its website, then it’s important to allocate a reasonable budget to its promotion. On-site SEO optimization is a part of that promotion and cutting corners here can lead to major ramifications further down the road. Ultimately, it’s best err on the side of caution by choosing a company you can trust, who has an experienced portfolio and can prove themselves before you handover the money.
Today there are many onsite SEO optimization companies out there offering a variety of services. When you’re looking for some help, there are countless companies ready to lend a hand. While for the most part, most of them are reputable and can deal with any SEO issues you may have, there are a few rogues out there and it’s important to be ever cautious.
